OHIO LABOR
Remember in November!
Vote NO on Issue 2 (SB 5)
Save Collective Bargaining
It is time for working families to stand together, to use our strength in numbers and to restore the balance of power in Ohio. This issue is key in the opposition²s strategy to severely restrict our rights. Issue 2 (SB 5) takes away collective bargaining, the dialogue between labor and management to resolve differences and the primary way for workers to have a voice.
Issue 2 (SB 5)
- - Takes Away Collective Bargaining - the dialogue between labor and management to resolve differences and the primary way for workers to have a voice.
- - Makes our Communities Less Safe - Nurses, police officers, firefighters and prison guards could lose their ability to negotiate for safer staffing ratios and better equipment, putting the safety of our families at risk.
- - Threatens the Quality of our Schools - It prohibits school districts from negotiating with teachers for smaller class sizes, threatening the quality of education in Ohio. It also ties salaries to test scores, forcing teachers to focus more on testing than providing the best education possible for our children.
- - Means Layoffs, Fines, and Jail Time for Striking Workers - Issue 2 (SB 5) bans all public employees from striking and establishes steep penalties if they do, including losing their job or facing costly fines. If workers strike when a court has issued an injunction, they could face $1,000 in fines, up to 30 days in jail or both.
