Tell Congress:
No Blank Check for China!
In our stores today, Americans
can buy products made in China's forced labor camps and by workers earning
as little as 13 cents an hour. China is notorious for violating basic
human rights and fighting dissent with brutality, prison and "re-education"
camps.
Congress is considering legislation
to give China a blank check: Some members want Congress to end its current
system of reviewing China's human rights record each year before deciding
our trade policy. They want to grant China permanent "Normal Trade
Relations" (NTR) status, with no annual reviews.
Call your members of Congress today!
Tell them China should not get permanent access to U.S. markets until
it demonstrates that it has stoppend unfair trade practices and respects
human and workers' rights.
- China has violated every trade agreement it has signed in the past
10 years, and top Chinese government officials say they have no intention
of abiding by this agreement, either.
- China can flood the United States with cheap imports made by forced
laborers and grossly underpaid workers. The growing trade deficit
with China already has cost hundreds of thousands of U.S. jobs and
lowered the wages of American workers.
- The Chinese government routinely tramples basic human rights, such
as freedom of speech, freedom of religion and freedom of association.
- Trade agreements must protect people, not just profits.
Call your members of Congress today in their district offices.
Tell them to Vote NO on a Blank Check for China!
